Dear colleagues: Happy new academic year! The latest issue of the Inkshed Newsletter is now available online at <www.inkshed.ca/blog/newsletter/august-2012-newsletter/>. Have a look to remind yourself of the healthy state of our field. The minutes of the May CASLL AGM show a dynamic organization just after its large and lively Inkshed 28 conference. Then three more pieces display the range of approaches in Canadian writing studies. * Lucie Moussu reviews an innovative book that uses narrative case studies for interesting and stimulating reading. * Another piece describes an online collection on world writing programs, with chapters from the University of Alberta and the University of Winnipeg. * Christina Grant interviews Margaret Procter to give one perspective on program development over the past twenty years at the University of Toronto. Besides reading with enjoyment, please consider writing in response to these pieces -- either by using the Comment boxes with each article, or by writing an article for another issue of the Newsletter. More accounts of Canadian writing programs would be welcome, as would case-study stories about learning or teaching. And how about sending in your presentation from Inkshed 28? All the best for another productive year in Canadian writing studies, and for more good discussion about what we do in our work.
