Thanks Ray for the article on speech therapy tips. The group may be interested in my wife's experience with the Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT) Program. My wife had the classic speech symptoms of hoarse voice, low volume and constant clearing of the throat. When I researched the LSVT program we were convinced it was worth a try so we sponsored the LSVT training for a local Speech Language Pathologist. After the intense six-week therapy was completed, there was a marked improvement in all the aforementioned symptoms. Her friends were amazed at the results. We also purchased the LSVT Home Program to use as after care. It is necessary to continue the regular exercises prescribed for the home program to maintain the gains achieved from the 6 week therapy. The therapy is expensive if not covered by insurance (as was our case) but the program does produce results. I would not recommend the program if the home program is not purchased for follow-up.
