maybe you have already tried this, but - have you considered a falls prevention program. ? also you might consider physiotherapy with a pt who is a specialist either in pd or in falls prevention, who will give you a set of exercises aimed at strengthening those muscles that are weak and give in , causing the falls. ________________________________ From: mschild <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] Sent: Tuesday, October 16, 2012 3:10 AM Subject: Re: Falling....help please > I have tried to forestall > further falls by putting up handles or having a piece of furniture for him > to hold on to in case he feels unsteady. This is not always a good idea. Many people fall because they have tried to steady themselves on a piece of furniture without thinking: chairs are unsteady if you lean on them and so are small tables, etc. I used to object to John holding on to the furniture, having seen too many people fall because of that. A good walker, like the Ustep, is useful. It does not fall with the person ( usually) and is very steady. maryse ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
