Prepare but don't project should be your mantra. The truth is every Parkinson's disease patient's journey is unique, so establishing realistic and attainable goals to make your lifestyle easier for you will help make PD only one of the many facets of your life.

a.. Goal 1: Maintain maximum physical function. Although medications may help minimize your symptoms, you enhance your opportunity to achieve your long-term goals when you maintain your best physical condition. No PD patient has all of the same symptoms. You and your situation are unique, and selecting the best therapies and lifestyle changes, while allowing you to maintain your physical function for as long as possible, is important for your well-being.
b.. Goal 2: Knowledge is power. You don’t have to become an expert on every scientific advance in the field of PD research, but actively seeking out information about the latest developments and new treatment options can help you to better understand the disease and improve your lifestyle. Going beyond PD research and remembering how you challenged your mind before PD is also a crucial step in staying healthy and enjoying yourself at the same time. Don't turn your back on what you enjoyed before PD!
c.. Goal 3: Embrace the power of emotional and spiritual well-being. In addition to addressing therapies with your medical team, addressing your spiritual and emotional health is just as important. Each person has unique ways of finding spiritual health. Whether it be taking walks in the park, reading, traveling, music, or continuing to pursue a career, ensure that you are finding peace and comfort. Be aware that seclusion isn't always the best option, and staying spiritually healthy is important.
