You’ll soon hear more about the Inkshed 2013 conference in Vancouver.
For now, keep the dates June 4 to 6 available and start looking forward
to another stimulating event.
Meanwhile, here are some other spring conferences to think about during
the dark days of November:
* The Canadian Writing Centres Association (CWCA) is now an independent
association rather than a special interest group in STLHE. It is now
planning its own conference, “Writing @ the Centre,” to be held at the
University of Victoria on May 31, 2013, immediately before the start of
Congress. See the full call for proposals at

Proposals are due by midnight December 11, 2012
* The Canadian Association for the Study of Discourse and Writing /
Association canadienne de rédactologie (CASDW/ACR) has issued a revised
call for proposals for its conference at the University of Victoria from
June 1 to 3, 2013. (That leaves you a full day to get over to Vancouver
for the start of Inkshed on the evening of Tuesday June 4.) The
conference title is “Transformations at the Edge: Writing Research,
Discourse, & Pedagogy.” The full text of the call is online at

note that the proposal deadline is January 14, 2013.
* In another interesting location, the European Association for the
Teaching of Academic Writing (EATAW) will meet in Budapest, Hungary,
from June 27 to 29, 2013, on the topic “Teaching Writing Across
Languages and Cultures.” Abstracts of 250 words or less are due by
January 27, 2013. See the conference website at

* Spring in the southern hemisphere starts in September. The 7th
International symposium on Genre Studies (SIGET) will be held from
September 3 to 6, 2013, at the Federal University of Ceará in Brazil.
Invited speakers include Charles Bazerman, David Russell, and Anish
Bawarshi. The proposal deadline has been extended to January 15, 2013.

* And to top off the list and look ahead another year, the next Writing
Research Across Borders conference will be held in Paris, France, in
April 2014. The call is now available on the WRAB website at

Conference languages are English and French. The submission deadline for
proposals is April 1, 2013.
