As a member of the CCCCs executive committee I voted in favor of
establishing the fund below to help contingent faculty attend the
CCCCs--and made a contribution. If you're in a position to contribute, I
hope you'll consider doing that. If you're in a position to apply for
funding help, I hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity by applying
for travel support to attend the CCCCs this year in Las Vegas March 13-16.

Dear Roger Graves,

At this time of year, we are called upon to support causes we care about.
At the CCCC annual business meeting last spring, we resolved to raise funds
in support of our colleagues with part-time or adjunct appointments who
otherwise cannot afford to attend the CCCC Annual Convention. Please
consider accepting my invitation to contribute to the newly established
CCCC Assistance Fund for Contingent Faculty. *If you have already
contributed to the Fund, we deeply appreciate your generosity.

*CCCC will tap organizational reserves (up to $10,000) to match every
dollar contributed by members to the CCCC Assistance Fund for Contingent
Faculty. All of us who have been fortunate enough to attend a CCCC
convention know how valuable the opportunity to connect with other teachers
and scholars can be. This is especially true for those who are teaching
heavy loads and have little time for deeper reflection on their
professional practices or chances to share their concerns and questions
with others who have "been there."

There is some urgency to this appeal--those who will apply for the support
we can offer will need a few months to plan to attend the convention. So, I
must ask you to *click on this link to
contribute*<http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/18937162:21363076111:m:1:2040430047:81054BFCB6FA10C549710598AE7C3DC5:r>
* before December 31, 2012*.

NCTE/CCCC is a charitable organization, and your contributions will be tax
deductible, if you claim such deductions annually. In addition to providing
a receipt for any contribution you can offer, I will be back in touch with
information about the results from this campaign.

Thanks for your generous support of CCCC and the broader professional
community we serve!
