Instructor – Science Writing
 
The Faculty of Science at Dalhousie University invites applications for a ten-month 50% full-time limited-term teaching position at the Instructor level beginning August 1, 2013 and ending May 31, 2014.
 
The ideal candidate will be responsible for a first-year writing requirement class in the Faculty of Science in the Fall and Winter terms of 2013-14. Responsibilities will include developing/updating course material, teaching (3 one-hour lectures and 2 one-hour tutorials per week), setting and marking assignments/quizzes/exams, supervising two TAs per term, meeting with students, setting up and monitoring a Blackboard Learning site, and maintaining and submitting grades. The incumbent will be available for two hours per week for office hours. 
 
Applicants must have completed a Masters degree and have experience related to scientific writing. Familiarity with SCIE 1111 and university writing centres would be assets. Applications should be submitted by April 15, 2013 to Dr. Tim Juckes, Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, Dalhousie University, PO Box 15000, Halifax, NS, B3H 4R2. Applications should include a summary of previous teaching experience, curriculum vitae, and evaluations received in previously taught university courses.  Applicants should arrange for three letters of reference to be sent prior to the closing date.
