so true,, Kathleen.  I also think such stunts help promote the idea that PD 
is not so bad.  People are often telling me  how good I  look and unless I'm 
screaming bloody murder or try to speak they think I’m "normal".  yes, 
everyday is a challenge where getting from one room to another is a major 
problem.   The  Everest hikers must be in the first 5 years of PD and meds 
work.

I'm with you, Ray! Nothing against the doctors' efforts, but I do find it a
bit sad that most people respond best to these kinds of "heroes". It's
ironic that to be a Parkinson's hero, you need to mount a display of
superhuman strength, endurance, and athleticism. What about you, plugging
away at your keyboard, trying to lasso your errant mouse? Or Amanda, gamely
looking for work and finding herself, at age 56, unemployable? What about
all of us for whom every day is a trek of Everest proportions?
