unfortunately I don't think there are too many solutions. I'm leery of the botox, but I guess what is important is how much a person is bothered by the symptom. you're probably right, Margaret, age discrimination is a factor, no doubt. looking into Depends, Ray -----Original Message----- From: [log in to unmask] Sent: Wednesday, May 22, 2013 6:25 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: BOTOX FOR URINARY INCONTINENCE/Margaret MY HUSBAND WENT TO THE UROLOGIST YESTERDAY AND HE SUGGESTED A LOW ACIDIC DIET AND GAVE HIM A LIST OF FOODS/DRINKS TO ELIMINATE OR CUT DOWN ON, IN HIS DIET. THE DOCTOR ALSO TOLD HIM THAT MANY OLDER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM (PARTICULARLY PARKINSON PAITENTS)--BUT DID NOT MENTION BOTOX AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION, OPTION OR THAT HE SHOULD EVEN CONSIDER IT. HOWEVER, I FEEL SURE HIS DIAGNOSIS WAS BASED ON MY HUSBANDS AGE ( 91 YEARS OLD) . A YOUNGER PERSON WOULD/MIGHT HAVE RECIEVED MORE SUGGESTIONS AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS, FROM HIM. I have this condition too, but no personal experience with botox for this condition nor do I know how successful it has been. I had botox off and on for about 5 years for dystonia in my left leg and am not sure how much it helped. The article says it lasts about 9 months but you have to have surgery. You might want to consider trying the non-invasive treatments in the Mayo Clinic article first.
