I have no idea why doctors would say that you can't use either an external
catheter or diapers? Do these doctors realize the problems that it is
causing for you?

Unless your care receiver has a problem with pressure sores, I would ignore
their advice. I used to 'double-diaper' my husband at night. He was
changed immediately in the morning and continued to wear diapers during the
day. We never had a problem with pressure sores.

Also, please consider asking your doctors for home health care. The home
health care nurse who can intervene for you with the doctors and help
discern how to address your husband's needs. You need help.
