THANK YOU, SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE. WE ARE GOING TO GIVE THE EXTERNAL CATHERTER A TRY----HE CANNOT CONTROL THE FLOW ANYMORE , WE CANNOT CHANGE OFTEN ENOUGH TO STOP HIS BEING CONTINUALLY WET AND HE IS TOO SLOW TO REACH THE URINAL ,BY HIS SIDE!!! SO, WE ARE GOING TO TRY THE EXTERNAL CONDOM CATHATERS, FOR NIGHT TIME USE, AT LEAST. WE HAVE A ONE HOUR CAREGIVER AT NIGHT WHO CLEANS HIM UP AND KNOWS HOW TO PUT THE CATHATER ON --WITH MEDICAL TAPE SO NOT TOO TIGHT--FOR NIGHT TIME USE. HE CAN TAKE IT OFF IN THE MORNING HIMSELF, OR I CAN HELP HIM. HE SLEEPS, IN HIS ELECTRIC CHAIR , SO IT SHOULD NOT PULL OUT EASILY. ANYWAY, IT'S WORTH TRYING AND THANK YOU AGAIN, FOR TAKING THE TIME TO RESPOND, In a message dated 6/20/2013 11:00:20 P.M. Do these doctors realize the problems that it is causing for you? Unless your care receiver has a problem with pressure sores, I would ignore their advice. I used to 'double-diaper' my husband at night. He was changed immediately in the morning and continued to wear diapers during the day. We never had a problem with pressure sores. Also, please consider asking your doctors for home health care. The home health care nurse who can intervene for you with the doctors and help discern how to address your husband's needs. You need help. ---------- Mary Ann (CG Jamie 68/28 with PD, died 11/20/07) > DEAR RAY, > WHAT DO OTHER PARKINSON MEN AND WOMEN DO ABOUT THE URINE INCONTENANCE > PROBLEM DURING THE NIGHT HOURS, IN PARTICULAR---TWO DOCTORS HAVE SAID > "NO" TO > THE EXTERNAL CATATHER AND ANOTHER DOCTOR AND CAREGIVER HAS SAID "NO" TO > DIAPERS, DUE TO PRESSURE SORES, AT NIGHT???? > > I KNOW HE DOES NOT HAVE A BLADDER INFECTION OR KIDNEY PROBLEM--I KNOW > -IT'S PARKINSON AND JUST BEING TOO SLOW TO GET UP TO GET TO HIS CHAIR > SIDE > URINAL OR THE BATHROOM, AT NIGHT WHEN HIS BRAIN WAKES HIM UP AND TELLS > HIM HE > NEEDS TO URINATE-----BUT IF THE DOCTORS ARE SAYING "NO" TO EITHER THE > EXTERNAL CATATHER OR THE DIAPERS---------WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO?
