About a year ago, I was taken of Mirapex and went through a really awful withdrawal, including depression, sleep problems, etc, etc, etc. The neurologist put me on Remeron to help with the sleep. It really messed with my head - most mornings, it took me two to three hours, sometimes more, for the "fog" to clear from my head. I definitely would not have trusted myself to drive or do other tasks that require alertness and mental agility. It didn't do much to help with my sleep. In fact, during this time, I underwent another sleep study: the results were horrendous! After about a month, they pulled me off that, gave me something else (I don't remember the name right now) which didn't work. I tried melatonin (10 mg) at night - no progress. During this time, I was also getting counseling for depression and anxiety. I learned some good techniques to reduce anxiety levels and to properly manage sleepless periods at night. My regular doc put me on 50,000 units vitamin D (my blood work showed low levels). I made a couple other meds changes, made a few dietary changes, increased the exercising, and managed to "stabilize" my sleep. I started taking 10 mg paxil at bed time about a month ago, with the option to increase to 20 mg if needed. I am now "sleeping through" nights about 60% +/-. (By "sleeping through", I mean that I'm not waking up in the middle of the night and then not being able to get back to sleep. I still wake up several times, usually to change position or adjust my CPAP mask, but then fall asleep right away). I generally have more energy during the day, am more motivated and have fewer slumps (sleepy spells) during waking hours. My wife agrees that things have improved a lot. She's always the best indicator of how I'm doing. A little long winded... I hope there was something that helped maybe.
