           It's a beautiful season Rayilyn,

As we leave summer’s carefree days behind, returning to routines and schedules, I’m reminded that structure marks every day for those managing Parkinson’s disease.

There’s the precise timing of medications and outings, the systematic routines, as well as countless other considerations that you can appreciate.

I truly admire your kindhearted concern for the 1.5 million Americans with Parkinson’s disease, Rayilyn.

And who could ever measure the value of all you do to rebuild their hope as you give to the American Parkinson Disease Association?

                  Saluting Your Kindness,

                  Leslie A. Chambers

Gene Findings Give Clues For New Treatment
Researchers believe a gene mutation may hold the key for the future treatment of Parkinson’s disease. The gene, FBxo7, interferes with the way the body rids itself of defective mitochondria (the power centers of cells). When these build up without being shed, they may cause brain cell death.

Linda Ronstadt: I Was Completely Shocked
Famous, decorated songstress Linda Ronstadt was shocked when she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She thought her symptoms were related to her Lyme disease and shoulder surgery, but that wasn't the case.

Researchers Find New Ways to Treat Parkinson's
Research lead by associate professor, Lena Brundin, conducted a study between patients with Parkinson's and a group without the disease. Those involved in the research stated "the findings may lead to new ways of treating the complex riddle of Parkinson's."

Green Tea May Protect Brain Against Parkinson’s
Researchers report that the polyphenols in green tea may protect brain cells from Parkinson’s disease. They base their findings on studies with mice, though green tea compounds have been shown to protect humans against heart disease and some cancers.
