Gail I agree with Maryse that it varies and you just won't know until you try. the uncertainty of treatments is another awful thing about PD. DBS stopped my tremors and I don't know how much else. In first couple of years after diagnosis I tried Sinemet and after one pill it was great, but never again. agonists never helped. amantadine helped couple of years ago but I had horrible hallucinations. I don't take PDmeds, but will try Rytary when it comes out. I've heard that a few people have taken meds t hat work for a long time with no /sides, but its kind of rare I think. good luck -----Original Message----- From: maryse schild Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2013 11:07 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: dyskinesias These are long years. 'My' JOhn went for 10 years without treatment but was loosing his independence. Regained it all once he started the treatment and to the end (>20 years PD) was able to dress/shower/eat alone. He kept his treatment simple: sinemet +- cannabis maryse ex cg JOhn, died aged 81 after>20 years PD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
