There is a health class tai chi.   It is done sitting or standing.   Good benefits from both.  
Google the tai chi society and see if they have a health class where you live.

i have been doing tai chi and it really does make a big difference in 
balance.  if you try just be careful to get a class for beginners or you 
will be lost and lose interest.  my class is at YWCA
