Hmmm.... Sounds kinda like shin splints, except that they typically occur
as a result of impact or sudden changes in direction - not really the kind
of movements you associate with cycling. On your exercise bike, are you
seated upright or is it a "recumbent" model where you're almost lying on
your back? I'm wondering if there's a difference in foot position or in how
your feet are held on the exercise bike that may be causing you to pull with
your toes or to pedal in a more toes-down position, either of which might
put different stresses on the muscles in the front of your legs. Just a
wild guess. Good luck.

Subject: Leg pain after using exercise bike

As a result of reading about the benefits of cycling, I bought an exercise
bike.
However, if I use it for more than 15 minutes or pedal other than slowly, I
get
shooting pains up the front of my legs.
This doesn't happen riding my trike outside.

I do know about warming up - any ideas ?

Amanda
