Hi Amber,
Have you considered a Director's chair? They are canvas and wood and the good ones are quite sturdy.
Find some samples here: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=director%27s+chair&id=E916F2FDE0E1B80EB590ECD9402C45502585152B&FORM=IQFRBA

In the past she used a stool to sit on, then switched to a folding chair with actual arms (to push herself up with) when her symptoms began. But now that chair is no longer working for her because the seat is too low to the ground. I'm wondering if there is a portable chair on the market that people with Parkinson's have been happy with getting in and out of? Stable, high seat, real arm-rests (and not the flimsy fabric/metal chairs that are most popular these days), but will fit in the back of her car? Her painting group is very important to her, and I want he to be able to go out with them for as long as possible. All thoughts welcome and thank you.

She's requested some sort of short walking stick (or collapsible foot-high stool that she could place her hands and push off from) to use to get herself up off the ground after petting the dog or doing her exercises on the floor. Does anything of this nature exist? Or ideas of what portable device is used for the purpose of rising from the floor?
