I had a (temporary) problem with an ear a while back, went to the hospital, said "My ear hurts and I can't hear through it". Receptionist - "take a seat over there" "Pardon?" "Take a seat over there". "Pardon?"
"TAKE - A - SEAT - OVER - THERE".
 Oh dear.....
turned out to be swimmer's ear (earful of swimming-pool water).
