It's different circuits that kick in...! At my worst (e.g. when I can't cut my food), if someone throws a ball at me, I catch it. I practiced Karate for many years. When my son threw a playful punch at my shoulder, I instantaneously blocked him. Much to the surprise of both of us ;-) In vivid dreams I often kick a knife yielding attacker to smithereens, and just about tear the bed linen. Seems like the mechanism for fine muscle control are the worst affected by PD. Somewhere in this is a way to bypass the movement part of PD...
