when I got my DBS 11 years ago I read it could be reversed if a cure for PD was found. I had DBS in July 2003 and redo in Sept 2003 on one side so electrode must have been moved. On May 3 2014 I had a fall and got a bump on my head. My neuro tells me head injuries could affect electrodes, but so far I've been lucky with my black eyes and bumps. I asked her how they got the leads down to my chest and she implied I might not want to know. I think I am stuck with DBS although it’s the only thing that has helped me. But I've gotten much worse than just a few years ago. -----Original Message----- From: Maryse Schild Sent: Sunday, July 13, 2014 12:36 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: improving DBS > I guess this new and improved DBS can only apply to the new DBS > candidates. i.e. people already with DBS implanted cannot get it. If I understand correctly, these new electrodes record the brain activity also but stimulate the ´old´ way. In Europe they are testing a new type of electrode which sends a more focused electrical discharge. maryse ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
