The planning committee of AWELL 2014 has released the AWELL conference
schedule for 2014 (attached). AWELL is designed for faculty, instructors, and writing centre professionals who teach and tutor ELL students. The goal of the conference is to provide tools and approaches that may be used directly in the classroom and tutoring
sessions. It is also hoped to provide a forum for discussion and the exchanges of ideas between instructors, administrators, and tutors of ELLs
Conference fees are only $135.00, and $10.00 for extra participants from the same institution.
Speakers include:
Dr. Alister Cumming, Professor, Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning; Former Head of the Centre
for Educational Research on Languages and Literacies (CERLL), University of Toronto (Day one keynote abstract);
Dr. Theresa Hyland, Director, Writing and Cross-Cultural Services, Huron University College at Western (Day
two keynote abstract);
And, if you haven’t been to Halifax or Nova Scotia, October to one of the best times to visit.
