Just out of idle curiosity - why do Americans refer to autumn as the fall ? 

Do they all become more unsteady at this time of year, or is it a reference to trees

shedding leaves ?  Trees do that here too but it’s still called autumn.


Yes, I know I’m  off-topic, I always was easily distracted.

                             Summer is almost over, but The Michael J. Fox Foundation continues to heat up with plenty of fundraisers, educational events and research news burning up our fall calendar. 

                                a.. Recruitment of Parkinson’s patients for Phase III testing of the FDA-approved drug isradipine is set to start soon. After proving safe in a study funded by MJFF, the drug will be tested in hundreds of newly diagnosed patients. When enrollment begins, this trial will be the most advanced, current study of a disease-modifying therapy for Parkinson’s.

                                b.. Team Fox races into the new season with tips on how to create inspirational fundraisers driven by the time of year. For ideas on how to make the most of back-to-school festivities and upcoming holidays, visit www.teamfox.org. And stay tuned for an upcoming webinar on seasonal fundraising!

                                c.. Miles for a Cure is back. Last year, you took us up on our challenge to run, walk or bike to raise thousands of dollars for Parkinson’s research. We’re doing it again, this time asking our community to reach our $50,000 goal as fast as possible. The race is on October 3, with more information to come soon.

                                d.. Partners in Parkinson’s continues to tour the United States through the end of 2014 with upcoming events taking place in Atlanta, Boston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles.
