Hi, everyone,

Our program in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies here in Carleton's School of Linguistics and  Language Studies has founded a new journal, The Journal of Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies.  JALDS welcomes submissions for our three types of publications:  peer-reviewed articles, working papers, and book reviews.  More information about the journal is provided below.  If you have any questions about the journal, please let me know.

---------------------------------

The Journal of Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies is a peer-reviewed publication which welcomes articles on topics relevant to two areas of scholarly inquiry: applied linguistics, particularly second language acquisition studies and TESL; discourse studies, including writing and genre studies. The journal also welcomes working papers in the form of, for example, contributions by language teachers about pedagogical concerns and papers by graduate students in the relevant areas. Book reviews of recent publications of relevance to the journal's topic focus are also welcome.

The journal has two review policies, one for articles and one for working papers and book reviews. Articles submitted to the journal will normally be sent for blind review by two subject-area experts, who will assess each submission for its quality of scholarship, strength of its arguments, validity of its claims, and effectiveness of its writing. Reviewers will normally be expected to complete reviews within six weeks. Reviewers are scholars with a track record of work directly relevant to the topic areas of the submissions assigned to them. Working papers and book reviews will be reviewed by the editorial team for topic suitability, the overall quality of scholarship (for working papers), and the quality of writing.

The journal can be accessed through this URL.
