Y et engines can be a source of both gaseous and particulate matter emission s. This seminar will review the sources of these emissions and present the technologies for controlling them. Engine design continues to evolve\, no t only because of emissions regulations\, but also in response to legislat ion requiring reduced fuel consumption. These requirements conflict and pr esent a significant challenge to engine designers. The gasoline direct inj ection (GDI) engine provides an interesting example of a design advance th at enables much reduced fuel consumption but at a cost of greater particul ate matter emissions. The seminar will highlight the research challenges a ssociated with minimizing GDI particulate matter emissions.\n\n\n\nIf you are unable to join us for the seminar in person\, we will be broadcasting the presentations live during the seminar using GoToMeeting software. Plea se feel free to join us online using a web-browser or by calling in and us ing the webviewing software. If you do decide to join us\, please remember to mute your microphone. If you have any questions during the meeting yo u are welcome to contact me by email\, or by using the GoToMeeting chat.\n Instructions on how to connect:\nUsing your web-browser or smartphone\nhtt ps://global.gotomeeting.com/join/599728293\n\nBy telephone\nDial +1 (647) 497-9351\nAccess Code: 599-728-293\nAudio PIN: Shown after joining the mee ting\n\nMeeting ID: 599-728-293\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-US:SOCAAR Seminar - Presenter: Professor Jim Wallace DTSTART;TZID=Eastern Standard Time:20150107T150000 DTEND;TZID=Eastern Standard Time:20150107T160000 UID:040000008200E00074C5B7101A82E00800000000101113736418D001000000000000000 010000000F093108ADE800746AC35AB2A8162FA3E CLASS:PUBLIC PRIORITY:5 DTSTAMP:20141215T174130Z TRANSP:OPAQUE STATUS:CONFIRMED SEQUENCE:0 LOCATION;LANGUAGE=en-US:WB 407 - 200 College Street X-MICROSOFT-CDO-APPT-SEQUENCE:0 X-MICROSOFT-CDO-OWNERAPPTID:-214972450 X-MICROSOFT-CDO-BUSYSTATUS:TENTATIVE X-MICROSOFT-CDO-INTENDEDSTATUS:BUSY X-MICROSOFT-CDO-ALLDAYEVENT:FALSE X-MICROSOFT-CDO-IMPORTANCE:1 X-MICROSOFT-CDO-INSTTYPE:0 X-MICROSOFT-DISALLOW-COUNTER:FALSE BEGIN:VALARM ACTION:DISPLAY DESCRIPTION:REMINDER TRIGGER;RELATED=START:-PT15M END:VALARM END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
