I do a variant using Moodle -- on-line inkshedding, requiring online submissions before class. Rather than reading and marking interesting bits, students read and respond. I also do the traditional inkshedding from time to time, and always make sure that a compilation of the marked bits gets transcribed and posted. I like to do that early in the term when they are not sure yet who is in the class and how they think/write. The transcription (an Inkshed collage, I think Sargent and Paraskevas call it) always has a lot of hits on Moodle, but I think it's mostly as the writers look to see what if anything got included. I include something from everyone, even if there's not many marks on one person's. Of course, I think that's what all inkshedders do.
