DESCRIPTION;LANGUAGE=en-US:Hi All\,\n\n\nSOCAAR is pleased to announce our
first SOCAAR Seminar for 2015-16.\n\n\n\nWednesday\, October 16\, 2015 2-3
PM\n200 College Street – WB407\n\n\nInvestigating the Role of Transport
ation Models in Epidemiologic Studies of Traffic Related Air Pollution and
Health Effects\n\n\nDr. Roberto Guardani\nProfessor\nDepartment of Chemic
al Engineering\nUniversity of São Paulo\n\n\nA brief description will be
presented of the research activities on environmental topics carried out a
t the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of São Paulo. The
focus is on studies on air quality monitoring\, and on the development of
statistical models to predict ground-level air pollutants in the São Pau
lo Metropolitan Area\, and in surrounding industrial sites.\nAmong the sta
tistical models\, neural networks and other pattern recognition techniques
have been fit to historical air quality data to predict ozone levels in d
ifferent areas of the São Paulo Metropolitan Area\, and have been impleme
nted by the local control authority.\nResearch results will also be shown
on the application of optical remote sensing techniques (Lidar) to monitor
industrial atmospheric emissions of pollutants .\n\n\n\nIf you are unable
to join us for the seminar in person\, we will be broadcasting the presen
tations live during the seminar using GoToMeeting software. Please feel fr
ee to join us online using a web-browser or by calling in and using the we
bviewing software. If you do decide to join us\, please remember to mute y
