My father has been tracked by the Movement Disorder Clinic at Western Hospital (U of T) for 34 years. He is the oldest and longest term PD sufferer currently in their care. Almost 8 years ago my dad was on his deathbed. He hadn't walked in 6 months or talked effectively in 3 years. He was choking constantly and couldn't even lift his head. Rehabilitation after a bad fall was aborted by the physicians in Lindsay and he was sent home with no further hope and my mom was told make preperations it won't be long. My Dad was the oldest participant in the GDNF study in 2002 and is one of the longest standing DBS recipients. We were introduced to a technology that has zero side effects literally on his deathbed and after 1 hour he walked on his own. Within 8 months he (without us knowing)had weened himself off of all meds and remains med free since. He even got his drivers license back for a few years. He is now 81 and still relatively active. The Neuro team at western conducted a blind placebo test on him 2 years ago to measure the effectiveness of the product on his mobility and cognitive function. They measured about a 30% increase in his mobility after about 1 hour. That's after being off the product for 1 week. Since being on this product they had to reduce DBS stimulation. There also seems to be an increased effectiveness when used in conjuntion with (full spectrum) L-dopa supplements rather than those alone. Not all L-dopa supps are equal by the way. There is evidence to show that synthetics variants do more harm than good in the long run and even natural such as Macuna (which my dad takes) needs to be full spectrum and extraction methods are critical. There's more to the Macuana than just the l-dopa apparently. The one he has found (and I have as well) beneficial is Tattva's ( I have no affiliation), I'm sure there are others that would be similar. But there's critical factors in PD sufferers that inhibit your body from utilizing l-dopa to create dopamine. That's what is key about the product my father uses.

My question: I would like to get doctors involved in doing a long term clinical study in relation. How do you connect with enough PD specialists who would be willing to undertake such an event. I've seen dozens of PD sufferer see tremendous benefit and it is not expensive. This is not a cure in any way shape or form, my father still has PD. But it sure has give our father back a significant quality of life.
