Greetings Katja:
Are any of these sessional positions distance learning?
That would interest me for two reasons: First, I am in New York
getting my feet back into the water after a long period of healing due
to injury that led to increasing legal blindness and will be able to
travel again perhaps in 2 years. Second, I am scheduled to begin
vocational rehab with assistive tehchology shortly. Third, this is
intended to permit me to return to my work in arts related education
and research - for I can read (listening), write (keyboarding) and
write drafts (the 'blurt' approach) and will begin relearning how to
edit by reading/listening this month.
This would be my first time looking into online/distance education and
there would need to be a way to connect, for example Blackboard
collaborations, or some connectivity here in New York, perhaps with
SUNY, CUNY or Canadian Council of Ministers of Education recent look
at international education. The distance aspect would also open a way
for the present and future generations of blind learner-scholars to
participate. I would like to be able to bring forward this idea, with
your collaborative partnership and the guidance of yourself and others
to determine its feasibility, and would like to be able to include the
CNIB and the State Commissions for the Blind and related
organizations, in terms of professional development for teachers. My
doctor is interested in this area I hope to count on his support.
One important area is determining what kind of living wage income
would become possible from such an approach also; and, how we could
connect it with other schools and universities of the Americas as a
whole, or elsewhere to make this feasible in terms of the field as a
whole. I would be interested in connecting this also with other
current questions in research which we could discuss once feasibility
is determined. On this we would probably need other guidance from
CASLL-L leadership.
