torage\n\n\n\nDr. Carolina Font Palma\n\nLecturer in Chemical Engineering\
n\nFaculty of Science and Engineering\n\nUniversity of Chester\n\n\nLow ca
rbon emission technologies\, such as carbon capture and storage (CCS)\, ar
e needed to limit the global temperature rise of 2°C. This talk will intr
oduce the two main technologies proposed for commercial demonstration in t
he UK\, that is\, post-combustion and oxy-combustion. Post-combustion bene
fits of being an end-of-pipe technology\, which does not require modificat
ions to the boiler as oxy-combustion does. On the other hand\, oxy-combust
ion produces a flue gas with high CO2 concentration that makes the CO2 cap
ture process easier. Progress on the deployment of these technologies will
be discussed\, as well as the factors preventing their development.\n\n\n
