Lecturer in English as a Foreign Language The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) is an all online institution based in Barcelona, Spain, which since its inception in 1995 has become a world leader in Web-based education. The UOC is currently seeking to fill a tenure-track position for Lecturer in English as Foreign Language. The selected candidate will work at the Centre for Modern Languages (Centre d’Idiomes Moderns, or CIM), located in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Barcelona. A pioneer in totally online language courses, the CIM has a strong emphasis on innovation and applied research aimed at enhancing teaching and learning in virtual environments. Requirements ● PhD in CALL, SLA, or related field ● MA in EFL or related field ● Native or near native proficiency level in English ● A minimum of 5 years’ experience in teaching EFL ● Expertise in language teaching methodology: Course design, materials design, planning and development of learning activities ● Publications in the field of CALL, SLA or related field ● Enthusiasm for working in an innovative, dynamic environment ● High degree of initiative and orientation towards continual improvement ● Motivation to undertake innovation and applied research in line with the teaching activity of the CIM Candidates without a B2 level in Spanish or Catalan will commit to attaining this level in one or both of these languages within two years of hiring.
