The Canadian Urban Environmental Health Research Consortium (CANUE) aims to:

  * characterize every postal code in Canada using a large suite of urban form metrics (various measures of greenness, walkability, nighttime light, air quality, noise, climate) going back to the 1980s, and setting up the structure to go forward for decades to come; and
  * make these metrics available to Canada's largest cohort and health data stewards, so environmental health researchers can start tackling the questions of how ALL these factors interplay and affect individual health.
Achieving these goals will mean that research made possible by CANUE can provide evidence on how urban form influences health, beyond what we already know or suspect. CANUE data will also be immediately useful to explore variation in environmental equity across Canadian neighbourhoods and over time.

CANUE SYMPOSIUM: URBAN ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH – NEW OPPORTUNITIES

DECEMBER 7th 10:00 – 11:30 am

Walkability, noise, greenness and air pollution are some of the common features of the built environment that can have profound effects on human health. Please join us for this fascinating symposium on urban environmental heath research in Canada and around the world, presented by five internationally recognized experts. After a brief introduction to the Canadian Urban Environmental Health Research Consortium by Scientific Director Dr. Jeff Brook, we'll hear three short talks that highlight current evidence, challenges, and emerging opportunities, followed by a Panel discussion including a question and answer session.
