Anyone here have any experience with or knowledge of nicotinamide ribose or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotidephosphate (NADPH)? Nicotinamide ribose is a B vitamin and is available over the counter. I believe it has been officially approved for use with PD. A friend who does not have PD told me he started taking it for sleep problems and an assorment of difficulties asociated with depression and chronic pain, and that he shows remarkable improvement across the board; he is enthusiastic about it. Our GP took a look at the literature in pubmed and elsewhere (below), and gave it her OK for both PD patient and care-giver (me). As did her neurologist, a PD specialist. Here are the citations. 1- The clinical effect of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotidephosphate (NADPH). http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2618590 2- "The coenzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) improves the disability of parkinsonian patients." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2597315 3- Nicotinamidadenindinucleotide (NADH): the new approach in the therapy of Parkinson's disease. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2644889 - Une autre en 1990 : "The clinical benefit of NADH as stimulator of endogenous L-dopa biosynthesis in parkinsonian patients." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2239495 - Puis en 1993 : "Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) - a new therapeutic approach to Parkinson's disease. Ours function at 40%. "It is a b3 vitamin analog. No Rx. Got mine here http://m.hpnsupplements.com/product/niagen " My friend writes: >Nad+ dose: FOR ME, 180 POUNDS, i take 2Å~ 125mg >pill before breakfast since it affwcts your >circadian cycle.
