my understanding is that the proportions of carbidopa and levodopa are different in Rytary, 23.75-95, plus its supposed to last longer than Sinemet. I take 3 pills a day, can't see it helps much, but dyskinesias not as bad. Trauti and Maryse have hit on one of the worst challenges of this disease in that there are opposing views on almost all meds and treatments, making it hard to know what to do. This to some extent is probably true of all meds, but the risks and side effects for PD treatments are really serious. Exercise is good. You just have to try things. also all side effects are not listed, e.g. speaking difficulty with DBS - is it DBS or PD? I have never seen cognitive decline as a result of DBS, its usually stroke or death with infection as biggest risk. I would like to see actual numbers on sides and risks. also I've fallen and hit my head many times with black eyes, lumps on head and bleeding. it must be my thick skull that protects the hardware in my brain. also severity of PD symptoms differ with each patient. For me, tremor was no small thing. now trying to speak is like strangulation. some people think PD is more than one disease. one thing is certain, it gets worse no matter what you do. -----Original Message----- From: Maryse Schild Sent: Sunday, May 06, 2018 12:54 AM To: [log in to unmask] I am surprised Rytary works better for it is the same as Sinemet CR( carbidopa + ldopa) John used to take sinemet 25/100 diluted in tonic so he could sip it as needed. ( liquid sinemet is usually diluted in OJ) Everyone to their formula Maryse ex cg John 20+yrs of PD On 5 May 2018 at 13:49, Trauti Boyd <[log in to unmask]> wrote: > hi, don! please, take your time deciding on dbs. as we found out, the > tremor might be the least of your problems and while ray's mind stayed > sharp after dbs that is not a given. :( a good portion of dbs patients > have > a drastic cognitive decline and, unfortunately, my husband is one of them. > > also, check with your doctor about rytary. this has worked much better for > my husband than sinemet. > > good luck! > > > > On 5/4/2018 11:26 AM, Don Kodner wrote: > >> Thanks for your posts, Rayilyn and Angelica.
