Hello,

Please join us at this GDI seminar on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 2:10 pm.

A Review of Particulate Matter Emissions from GDI Engines

Brian Hutchison, MASc. Candidate

Abstract: As Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) technology grows in market share in automotive markets around the world, concerns have arisen due to their elevated emissions of particulate matter (PM) from both environmental and human health perspectives. The current state of understanding of particle formation inside GDI engines will be presented along with some issues in measuring and quantifying GDI particulate matter emissions. Exhaust after treatment technologies for mitigation of particulate tailpipe emissions will also be reviewed, both current practice and new developments. The seminar will conclude by identifying specific research areas requiring further investigation.
