Hi All:

I'm a member of CANSCAIP (Canadian Society of Children's Authors,
Illustrators and Performers) and am wondering how many approach
English language learning through including Patois or Spanglish as
Indigenous Languages and how many include Indigenous literature as
sociology, anthropology, media or alternate ways of knowing or how
many might invite a storyteller in person or by Skype to their
teaching venues. I'm also Arawak descended so that I focused on
writing over 10 curriculum units on phrases in the language.

I'm at the new grandmother mile of life now, returning and hoping to
complete the doctoral degree after personal injury that took me out of
circulation for a decade and with the "gift" of a disability now. The
next curriculum I wrote (for school performances) is on Anamorphic art
and art by description with my newly acquired visual limitations
(trying to avoid the "b" word here).

I'd really love to hear your perspectives on how to include Indigenous
languages as Modern Languages through literature and perhaps write a
section in my thesis on your views. Feel free to reply online or
offline - how many include indigenous themes or topics - directly to
[log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask]
Much thanks.
