REEDers may like to be alerted to some of the use to which REED volumes have been put recently. Richard Rastell has just completed his book Minstrels and Minstrelsy in Late Medieval England, which is scheduled for publication by Boydell & Brewer in April 2023: this has sections on minstrel travel, including discussion of minstrel circuits, and also a chapter on civic minstrels, all partly based on REED material. B&B are offering a pretty large discount on the book from January. Richard has also taken some material out of the waits chapter, very largely based on REED information, which discusses the early history of the civic minstrels, including the question of employment mobility. This is published as ‘Civic minstrels in late medieval England: new light on duties and careers’ in the Royal Musical Association Research Chronicle 52 (2021), 183-218.
