It is now generally acc epted that air pollution is one of the top risk factors for mortality worl dwide. However\, associations between exposure to air pollutants and an ev er-increasing range of adverse health outcomes – including dementia\, de pression\, obesity\, diabetes\; all conditions with a substantial and grow ing population prevalence - continue to raise mechanistic questions. Moreo ver\, the spatial and temporal variability of air pollution poses challeng es in identifying key determinants of toxicity that would allow us to move beyond mass-based standards.\nThis seminar will describe work establishin g how the body’s stress response system – essential for survival but d eleterious when chronically activated – acts as a key mechanism underlyi ng systemic effects of air pollution on health. It will then describe how toxicological tools are being applied to link biological effects to pollut ant composition\, and hence source. Finally\, it will provide examples of how use of more human-relevant toxicological tools\, and translation of to xicological findings to the population\, may help us to better understand factors underlying susceptibility and identify toxicity determinants.\n\n\ n_________________________________________________________________________ _______\nMicrosoft Teams meeting\nJoin on your computer\, mobile app or ro om device\nClick here to join the meeting\nMeeting ID: 233 093 576 326\nPasscode: bx4p6H\nDownload Teams | Join on the web\nOr call in (audio only)\n+1 6 47-794-1609\,\,67023358# Canada\, Toronto \nPhone Conference ID: 670 233 58#\nFind a local number | Reset PIN\nLearn More< https://aka.ms/JoinTeamsMeeting> | Meeting options[log in to unmask]&messageId=0&language=en-US> \n________________________________________________________________________ ________\n\n UID:040000008200E00074C5B7101A82E008000000009028B5C1CE43DA01000000000000000 010000000EBAF900390B84C46A65875348031A6D1 SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-US:SOCAAR Seminar - Dr. Errol Thomson DTSTART;TZID=Eastern Standard Time:20240117T150000 DTEND;TZID=Eastern Standard Time:20240117T160000 CLASS:PUBLIC PRIORITY:5 DTSTAMP:20240110T210717Z TRANSP:OPAQUE STATUS:CONFIRMED SEQUENCE:0 LOCATION;LANGUAGE=en-US:Microsoft Teams Meeting X-MICROSOFT-CDO-APPT-SEQUENCE:0 X-MICROSOFT-CDO-OWNERAPPTID:-2132142104 X-MICROSOFT-CDO-BUSYSTATUS:TENTATIVE X-MICROSOFT-CDO-INTENDEDSTATUS:BUSY X-MICROSOFT-CDO-ALLDAYEVENT:FALSE X-MICROSOFT-CDO-IMPORTANCE:1 X-MICROSOFT-CDO-INSTTYPE:0 X-MICROSOFT-SKYPETEAMSMEETINGURL:https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/ 19%3ameeting_ZWMwMDdhMDEtMGQyOS00ODU1LThlZTYtZjQwZWFmNmE4OTc1%40thread.v2/ 0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%2278aac226-2f03-4b4d-9037-b46d56c55210%22%2c%22O id%22%3a%2276a2f469-c5cc-446a-8132-c4bf6f5856ed%22%7d X-MICROSOFT-SCHEDULINGSERVICEUPDATEURL:https://api.scheduler.teams.microsof t.com/teams/78aac226-2f03-4b4d-9037-b46d56c55210/76a2f469-c5cc-446a-8132-c 4bf6f5856ed/19_meeting_ZWMwMDdhMDEtMGQyOS00ODU1LThlZTYtZjQwZWFmNmE4OTc1@th read.v2/0 X-MICROSOFT-SKYPETEAMSPROPERTIES:{"cid":"19:meeting_ZWMwMDdhMDEtMGQyOS00ODU [log in to unmask]"\,"private":true\,"type":0\,"mid":0\," rid":0\,"uid":null} X-MICROSOFT-DONOTFORWARDMEETING:FALSE X-MICROSOFT-DISALLOW-COUNTER:FALSE X-MICROSOFT-REQUESTEDATTENDANCEMODE:DEFAULT X-MICROSOFT-ISRESPONSEREQUESTED:TRUE X-MICROSOFT-LOCATIONS:[ { "DisplayName" : "Microsoft Teams Meeting"\, "Loca tionAnnotation" : ""\, "LocationSource" : 0\, "Unresolved" : false\, "Loca tionUri" : "" } ] BEGIN:VALARM DESCRIPTION:REMINDER TRIGGER;RELATED=START:-PT15M ACTION:DISPLAY END:VALARM END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
