I just want to second the motion made by Richard Rastall and others that REED-L be kept alive, even if it means putting it on the artificial life-support of full automation. I confess that I have been very slow to take advantage of REED-L, but I feel that the list serves a definite purpose and offers great opportunities for communication and collaboration among widely scattered specialists. It is perhaps worth oting that this year's MLA meeting in Chicago will include several sessions of special interest to students of early drama. In particular, let me call attention to two sessions organized by the Medieval and Renaissance Drama Society. (Yes, I'm a member of the MRDS--this is a shameless plug). The first is "Moving Subjects: The Semiotics of Processional Performance." It will include papers by C. Clifford Flanigan, John Cartwright, and Michael Leslie. The second session will be devoted to "The New Historicism and Medieval and Renaissance Drama." It will include papers by Theresa Coletti, John D. Cox, and Peter Travis. Kathleen Ashley will preside at the first session and david bevington at the second. I'll be happy to provide more information (titles and times) on request. I also plan to describe REED-L and its potential to the MRDS membership at its annual meeting in conjunction with the MLA. Perhaps that will eventually lead to more participants and renewed discussion on the REED-L list. Don't give up on us yet, Abigail! --Steve Wright WRIGHTS@CUAVAX
