Dear Friends,

Has anyone read a comparatively new (late 91 or early 92, I think)
book by an Oxford historian, Miri Rubin, called _Corpus Christi_? I am
just finishing it up now and would be interested in other reactions.
I've been told there is a review in the latest _Medium Aevum_, but the
92.2 number isn't available in Toronto yet.

It is an important book for people who are interested in the various
phenomena, such as plays and processions, which clustered around
Corpus Christi, but as a historian of theology I found the central
section about the theology of the eucharist and the foundation and
theology of the feast of Corpus Christi very flawed. I was, I admit,
also disturbed that, although she referred to my correction of what I
think is a basic misinterpretation of the word ludus in Holcot's
commentary on Wisdom, she did not seem to take the point, ie, that it
is unlikely in context to be referring to stage plays on Corpus
Christi. There were a lot of little errors and typos which bespoke bad
copy-editing and proofing, but that is more to be laid at the feet of
OUP than of the author.

Has anyone else read it? Does anyone else know of any reviews of it?
