NEW RESEARCH AND TEACHING RESOURCES AVAILABLE
              on Gerontology and Family Studies

Sociometrics Corporation is a research and development firm that operates
at the crossroads of social science research and computer technology.
The company disseminates social science data and research tools for use by
educators, researchers, college students, and policymakers.

Sociometrics has developed 3 major data archives:

Data Archive of Social Research on Aging (DASRA), established in 1991,
   with funding from the National Institute on Aging;

American Family Data Archive (AFDA), established in 1990, with funding
from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development; and

Data Archive on Adolescent Pregnancy and Pregnancy Prevention (DAAPPP),
established in 1982 with funding from the Office of Population Affairs.

These data archives contain data and documentation from outstanding studies
in their respective fields. Studies were selected for each archive by a
national panel of experts using strict scientific criteria of technical
quality, substantive utility, relevance for policy or practice, and
potential for secondary data analysis.

Each of the comprehensive archives and many of the larger individual data
sets can be purchased with powerful, easy-to-use search and retrieval
software which helps users to locate variables of interest. Data sets in
the Family and Aging archives can also be purchased with data extract
software which creates customized SPSS and SAS system files for PC or
mainframe analysis with subsets of variables selected with the search and
retrieval software.
