Some of your message, I don't understand but I do firmly believe we are a
family. When I had the first reaction to Sinemet, the first people I
wanted to discuss it with...the people with the real 'know-how'... was this
list. For anyone who missed my cheerful little story, here it is
again..an expanded version.

Last Tuesday, I had an appointment with my neurologist, Susan, who is
located in the same hospital I work in. Susan prescribed 3 100/25
Sinemet per day in addition to the Deprenyl I was already taking. I took
one Tuesday at dinner, one Wednesday at breakfast and one at lunch. About
an hour after taking the third one, I started feeling very dizzy, faint,
sweating and just plain rotten. Two of the faculty were at my desk at the
time and one of them asked if I were ok...said I was very white looking.
They took me into the staff lounge, took my pulse and blood pressure which
were ok and one of them phoned Susan to ask what to do. Susan recommended
only taking 2 Sinemet for a while until my system got used to it. I have
been off work since then. I take the Sinemet and about an hour later
start feeling dizzy. I lie down for about an hour and feel better. What
I was asking is if anyone else had that happen and what did they find helped.

Now for the expanded version. As those of you who were on this list on
January 10 know, my very dear friend and boss, Janet, was brutally
murdered by her husband, Bob. My pd symptoms have worsened since then.
Well, it turns out that Susan knew Bob...his name is still on the list of
physicians in that clinic. One of her first questions was why Janet
stayed with him. My 45 minute appointment turned out to be about 5
minutes on me and 40 minutes on the murder. No tests...just the comment
that my walking seemed slower. To my questions about what to expect from
pd and what to do about it when I have to testify in court, she told me to
take a Valium. She was not unsympathetic but, in my opinion, more
concerned with gaining information about the murder than on treating me.
That is also somewhat understandable. Those of us who were close to Janet
and have had to deal with this and hear details about it on a daily basis
are still trying to make sense out of it. Others who knew one or the
other of them but are not close to the situation must be totally
confused..how could someone they know do something so awful to such a nice
woman.

I know I haven't been as involved with our list these past few weeks but I
have been reading the messages with interest. If anyone is having
any problems receiving messages or anything, please let me know and I will
do whatever I can to help.

Janet was very interested and impressed with this discussion list. One of
our last conversations was about it. She asked if I knew what I had
started and said how powerful the sharing of information among us was.
The fact that our list includes people with pd, caregivers, families and
health care professions talking to each other every day from all
these different countries gives everyone a chance to look at pd,
meds, research, helpful information on making life easier...just
about every aspect of life in the wonderful world of pd. Let's keep it
going and growing.
