The following is a PRESS RELEASE just received.
Washington- Joan Samuelson, Director of the Parkinson Action Network, will
speak at the kick-off campaign to make medical research an integral component
of a national health care plan.
The campaign will begin with the introduction of legislation to establish THE
FUND FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH authored by Senators Tom Harkin and Mark Hatfield.
The event will take place on Monday, February 28, 1994 at 11:00 in the
Dirksen Senate Office Building, Room 192, Washington, D.C..
In addition to Samuelson and the two Senators, the kick-off will be attended
by representatives of 200 organizations in support of the FUND including
representatives of the aging community, academic health centers, disabled
veterans, patient advocates and the business community. A letter of
endorsment from a number of NOBEL LAUREATES will be released. Actress Mary
Tyler Moore, International Chairman of the Juvenille Diabetes Foundation,
will also speak in support of the FUND.
 
IT WOULD BE GREAT TO GET A GOOD TURNOUT FROM THE PARKINSON'S COMMUNITY FOR
