Simon J. Coles: I received a reprint from a British publication identified
only as JACM with an article by Dan Beth-El entitled "Magic beans? Natural
sources of L-Dopa in the treatment of Parkinsons Disease." It describes
Broad Beans (Vicia Fava) as being the only natural source of L-Dopa. Quoting
from the article: According to several clinical reports, the plant replenishes
brain deficits of L-Dopa more quickly and for a longer period than the synthetic
medication. The fact that the intake of L-Dopa through this plant is almost
completely devoid of side-effects is creating unprecedented interest in research
on Vivia Fava and its clinical properties.(End of Quotation).
The article presents a detailed description of the biochemistry involved
and reports some clinical cases with positive results.
I am curious about this. Do you know anything about it? Do you know
of the journal, JACM? I would appreciate any information that you might be
able to find out about this. Thanks. Bob Newbrough ([log in to unmask]
