Dear Lynn: You might be interested in a programme offered by Boston
University Medical Centre. This programme was started by the Parkinson's
team in the Department of Neurology six years ago specifically to provide
closer pysician/nurse monitoring of the patient's medication response and
emphasize that learning and understanding about your condition leads to
healthy adjustment, proper management, and therapeutic success - and the
patient becomes an active participant in care, rather than being a victim of
parkinsons.
For more information call (617)266-1565 or (617)638-8466 and talk with
Cathi Thomas, RN. MS., coordinator of the APDA Information and Referral
Center and a neurology nurse at BUMC.
Dr. Robert Feldman, Professor and Chairman of Neurology at BUMC and
medical advisor of the APDA I&F Center, is one of the nation's top PD
specialists, and a caring person as well.
You might want to get the book LIVING WELL WITH PARKINSON'S by Glenna
Wotton Atwood a teacher living in Maine who is a patient of Dr. Feldman.
Good luck....Barbara Yacos, RN (and a parkinsonian)
