Greetings! I am sending out, under (virtual) separate cover, the brief biographies or personal sketches that new members have sent in over the last few months, arranged in alphabetical order. I think they are very interesting for several reasons. Not only is it always fun to read about other people (well, I think it is), but I am intrigued by the various ways people hear of REED-L. We must be one of the quietest lists on the whole Internet, and yet word still gets around! Also, two new contributors raise questions related to travelling companies and patronage, an area in which I am becoming increasingly interested and one in which I think a great deal more work needs to be done, especially from the historical point of view. I'm hoping to finally put together my research and thinking on 'ministrallus' and related forms later this year (something I've been threatening for a long time) and I hope that will shed some light on at least part of the topic. And now for the administrivia..... 1. Another plea to please tell me if your address is going to change or your present account is going to close, for whatever reason. Or at least unsubscribe from the old and re-subscribe at the new! I keep getting odd bouncing messages from time to time because addresses have ceased to exist. 2. I will soon be starting my holidays, because REED Shropshire will soon be going to press. That means that I will be picking up the e-mail a bit less often from this account.
