Subject: Sinemet and low blood pressure

I am a new subscriber. My dad (72) was diagnosed a couple of years ago
with Parkinson Disease. I live in Seattle, but mom and dad are on the
east coast in an area with no local phone access to Internet (or
Compuserv, etc.), if you can believe that there are still such remote
places.

I have subscribed to PARKINSN in order to get mom
information that may be helpful to dad and her. I'm sort of the human
interface here. I'll relay information back and forth as best I can (at
least until we figure out a way for mom to get on-line herself).

Mom's first query:

----------------------------------------------------------

Patient takes Carbidopa-Levodopa (25-250)-(Sinemet) tablets 3x a day and
has suffered from low blood pressure since starting the current dose of
Sinemet. To counteact this he takes Florinef Acetate (.1mg) 2x a day at
7am and 6pm. However the bouts of low blood pressure, causing near
fainting at various times of the day, persist.

Any suggestions for alternative methods of increasing blood pressure or
coping with the problem would be appreciated.

Thanks for any help.
