It is no rumor nor is the procedure new.  The precise 3-D location of tissue
in the brain for operations was started in 1906 by Drs. Robert H Clarke and
Victor Hoealey at the University College in London.  The Procedure became
known as stereotactic surgery.  Undoubtably, the procedure is even more
precise today, but the principle is still the same.  For more information see
