I have joined this list recently, but have not introduced myself. I
am a registered nurse, and work at the University of Michigan
Hospitals (although not in nursing, currently). A family member of
mine has recently been diagnosed with PD, although is not ready to
be open about the diagnosis.

My background is in a very different area of nursing, so i am very
unfamiliar with PD. The doctor who made the diagnosis of "mild PD"
left town, so we are not very informed about PD, and would be interested in
information about medications (eldepryl is all that has been
prescribed), symptoms, therapies that are helpful, etc.

I have heard that there can be a genetic link, so the rest of us are wondering
what we should be watching for. The possible correlation that was
mentioned with a previous surgery is interesting, since this person
had surgery a couple of years before symptoms, although I remember
shortness of breath (unrelated to any apparent cardiac difficulties)
a few years prior to that.

I would also be interested in learning about any resources with
information about PD that might be available on the internet.

Thanks
