Barbara Patterson, et al.

I have recently tried a device on my ankle called an Air Cast. It's a two
piece splint like device each piece is two layers, an air bladder and a hard
outer shell. One piece goes on each side of the shin and extends to the
plantar surface of the foot at the heel. They are attached together by a
strap that goes under the heel. There are also two velcro traps that hold
everything in place. This cast allows the foot to move up and down, but
prevents side to side twisting. I use it due to extensive muscle and nerve
damage to the lower leg (not PD). My shoes tend to roll over on the outside.
It seems to work quite well, though I have only been using it for a few days
now.
