I appreciate very much your sending it to me, and sharing your experience with the exercise. I have been a regular exerciser for about 20 years, since when I was 39 and found my cholesterol off the top of the charts. I did major change in my diet and took up exercise, first running and then in a couple of years I added Nautilus. At about the same time, I attended a Unitarian Church summer conference and took a yoga class I found that suitable, and added a daily yoga routine as well. What I have going right now is a daily yoga series for 15-20 minutes (that includes a few Feldenkreis exercises) and walking/running for 20 minutes on M & F. And on W, I substitute a Nautilus routine at the Student Recreation Center, working 20-30 min with a trainer. I walking/running for 20 minutes on N & F. And in W, I substitute a Nautilus routine with a trainer, to keep from overdoing it, and to help me work those unused muscles. That works pretty well; but occasionally I do too much and get some muscles spasms that require attention. My trainer says the new approach to exercise is to warm up first before stretching; the reverse of what I normally do. So now I am experimenting with two methods of warmup: one is to lie in a hot bath prior to any exercise. The other is to walk as strenuously as I can to break a sweat, and then do what else you are going to do. I did a nautilus set about 3 weeks ago without warmup and did my back in for a week. Now I slowly working my way back and each day I do nautilus, I am now in the bath. Good to hear from you and to be able to share stories about this. Thanks. bob n.
